Mandapeta, also called as Mandavyapuram is a town and an A-grade municipality in East Godavari district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a market place and a place of recreation for many surrounding villages and it is famous for its rice mills.
Mandapeta is located in the East Godavari Sub basin of the larger Krishna Godavari Basin.
Both Oil and Natural Gas reserves have been found in the Mandapeta formation. ONGC plans to drill wells in the onland blocks in Mandapeta to assess the potential of shale.
