About Maddur
Maddur (also pronounced as Madduru) is a town in Mandya district in the Indian state of Karnataka. It lies on the banks of the river Shimsha. It is 82 kilometers from the state capital Bangalore and 60 kilometers from Mysore.The original name of this place was Arjunapuri. During Tippu Sultan's rule this place was used to make ammunitions, and rockets. Thereafter, the place came to be known as Maddur (Maddu in general means 'medicine' or 'chemical')
