About Barasat
Barasat is a city and a municipality of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). It is the headquarters of the Barasat Sadar subdivision. It is also a regional transportation hub at a rail and road junction. Several roads, including National Highway 12 (formerly NH 34, towards North Bengal), National Highway 112 (Jessore Road, leading to the Bangladesh border at Petrapole), and the road to Basirhat pass through the city.
